Around the District - Turtle Valley
Turtle Valley is a beautiful small valley approximately 12 km long running east/west about 5 km south of the Trans Canada Highway. Homesteading started here in the late 1800’s with one of the first non-native settlers being George Chase, nephew of Chase founder Whitefield Chase.
There are three small lakes in the valley Chum, Phillips and Fleming Lake, all with healthy turtle populations, many small farms and lots of wildlife. Known primarily for its logging, sawmills and ranches in the past, the valley is becoming a growing hub for horse fanciers with breeders and trainers that have with indoor and outdoor facilities for a number of disciplines including western, dressage and jumping.
