Experience Chase
Chase BC is a vibrant village nestled among the mountains and along the sandy shores of the Little Shuswap Lake.
Embrace All Four Seasons
In the early spring, Chase is the wildflower hotspot. You can hike the rolling grassland bench above the mouth of the South Thompson River to the Neskonlith Meadows and see the Avalanche Lily, Arrowleaf and Balsom Root in full bloom or view the noble bighorn sheep who call Chase home. If adventure is what you seek, explore and play at the TreeTop Flyers at Chase Canyon Zipline and fly over the cascading Chase Creek Falls that are rapid in May and June. Chase’s residents and visitors alike await spring to partake in some great outdoor activities, such as the new Dr. Vagyi Memorial Skatepark, our family friendly 9 hole golf course at Sunshore Golf where you can enjoy a nice meal or pint of draft at the 19th Hole under a covered deck, the stunning 18 hole Talking Rock Golf Course, or cruise around town as part of our Neighborhood Golf Cart Program.
You can make the most of our hot summer days with a paddle, float, swim or skim on the Little Shuswap Lake. Memorial Park is the community’s gem, where you can dive off the 300 meter long iconic red pier, relax and build sandcastles on the beach, enjoy a picnic lunch in the shade, and play in the new Lions Splash Pad. On Tuesday evenings in July & August, enjoy free live concerts at Music on the Lake as part of our Lakeside Summer Music Series, where you can also grab a nice cold beer and dinner for the family from the vendors set up in the park. Open all summer long, the Chase & District Museum and Archives welcomes visitors to learn the great history and heritage of our lovely township, take a Historical Tour with the local Historian, explore the authentic pioneer cabin, and check out the 1923 Franklin automobile.
The rich, fertile and pristine areas surrounding Chase make it an ideal location for agriculture. Be sure to take in the local Farmer’s Market on Fridays during the summer, grab some fresh produce from the many great sustainable farms and do a tasting tour of the wineries and breweries around the area. In August, be sure to pick up a bag of our world famous corn and join in the annual CornStock festivities. Just outside of Chase you can find bison roaming the ranch at the Turtle Valley Bison Ranch, with special events and feasts throughout the year. Just down the road is the Turtle Valley Donkey Refuge Society, offering refuge to donkeys since 1999 this working farm is dedicated to caring for donkeys and encourages visitors to visit the donkeys over the fence (sorry, no riding the mules).
Fall is breathtaking in Chase, as the amber trees transform the hillsides and eagles soar along the shorelines. A hike up Mount Scatchard and Mount Boysee is great anytime of year, and a climb in the autumn will reward you with incredible views and picturesque landscapes sure to earn you some serious likes on Instagram. Over at Pete Murray’s, families fill an afternoon in the Pumpkin Patch, solving the Corn Maze, and picking up fresh goodies in the Harvest Market.
A major excitement each fall is the return of the Sockeye Salmon to the Adams River. Though salmon return to the spawning grounds every year at Tsutswecw Provincial Park (nee Roderick Haig-Brown Provincial Park), and the dominate run happens every four years where millions of Sockeye Salmon and hundreds of thousands of visitors celebrate the Salute to Sockeye – Adams River Salmon Run. As one of the most important sockeye salmon breeding areas in the world, this annual phenomenon is important to the local ecology, history, and culture of the Secwepemc people since time immemorial.
